At Clune Construction Company, safety isn’t just an afterthought or part-time effort. Safety is integrated into everything we do, plan, facilitate or manage so that it is part and parcel to every aspect of the construction plan and implementation. This is accomplished by reviewing each project site and evaluating the work to be performed before the work commences. Thus, safety on each project is not a “cookie cutter” approach; however, a customized program for each project.
Accountability: When everyone is encouraged to be safety conscious, safer jobsites become a reality. That’s why it is the responsibility of every person who works on a Clune Construction project, including Project Managers, Superintendents and Subcontractors. The effort doesn’t just start or stop on the actual job-site, it resonates throughout the entire corporate structure.
Checks and balances: To assure that our efforts are performing to our expectations in all areas of project safety, we contract outside dedicated consultants to walk and evaluate each site and report their findings to management. This is our way of ensuring objectivity and on-going compliance.
Each and every safety report that is generated for each job site is routed to Clune Construction management and is taken very seriously.
Visibility and training: Each superintendent has taken an OSHA Construction Course focused on Clune Construction Company specific operations. Our subcontractors are reviewed and evaluated according to our standards of job safety. All Clune Construction personnel actively walk their jobsites as a routine safety practice.
Educating: To Clune Construction, safety is worth the extra effort. We’ve applied our pro-active approach to include creating a new up-dated Safety Manual based on more than just the “must haves” and have integrated real-world construction practices. As an example, we require more stringent fall protection measures on our job-sites than required by OSHA standards. We realize that more stringent fall protection procedures can go a long way to curbing the occurrence of one of the leading causes of severe construction accidents.
