Major architectural renovation and MEP infrastructure upgrade to an existing 40-year-old, 18-story office building, to prepare the building to house more than 6MW of datacenter facilities.
The first phase of the project provided an additional 1,000 GPM and spare capacity on the existing condenser water system by installing one new redundant cooling tower, one new redundant sump, new enlarged supply and return risers, and a new condenser water pump plant. The electrical infrastructure upgrades included a new substation, new emergency switchgear, 14 new ATSs, new normal and emergency power risers, and 4MW of generators. The scope also included installing a new building automation system for site management and monitoring. New fire pump and fire protection low- and high-rise standpipes were installed, along with a new building fire alarm, life safety and security systems. The MEP equipment, conduit and pipe were coordinated utilizing 3D modeling software.
All work was performed within an occupied building with no disruptions to the existing customers, or their critical facilities.
