Andrew Hime, procurement manager at Clune Construction, is leading the company’s effort to bring predictability back to material sourcing. Joining the firm in May, he is spearheading a national procurement strategy designed to standardize supplier engagement and provide project teams with greater cost certainty across Clune’s markets.
His role comes at a critical time, as contractors continue to face long lead times and price volatility on key construction materials. Recent tariff hikes on aluminum, steel and copper have only added to the pressure, with input costs for nonresidential construction up 2.6% year over year, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Hime’s focus is on reducing that uncertainty while creating long-term value for Clune’s projects by treating procurement as a strategic advantage.
“Our strategy is built around flexibility and early engagement,” Hime states. “That means partnering with our operations team, clients, manufacturers and distributors to use market intelligence and develop sourcing strategies that minimize risk, whether it’s a pricing spike or a production delay on critical materials.”
