Clune Worker
Our Story

In founding Clune Construction in 1997, it was my dream to build an environment that fosters and rewards everyone’s achievements and pride in all aspects of the company’s efforts.

Mike Clune
I felt that if the company could focus its attention on creating a unique bond with every employee-owner, they would create a positive client relationship based on our core values at every level in the company. I’m very proud of what we have accomplished together and I am excited to see what’s next.

Mission & Purpose

Since our founding, Clune has grown immensely while maintaining the focus on our people that Mike Clune initiated.

Dave Hall
As we continue to evolve, we know that our strengths are rooted in our shared fate. Increasing goals, expanding footprint and working in new markets all require people across our organization to think, act and grow collaboratively toward the same purpose. These efforts can only succeed in an environment of trust, where safety, service, teamwork, respect, excellence, leadership and innovation are the core values. My job as CEO is to create the conditions where these principles are at the forefront of what we do every day so that we are all in pursuit of a perfect project for our clients and team members.
–Dave Hall / CEO

Our core values

We build more than structures. We create lasting value through our fundamental beliefs.

Safety First, Always. We protect our people, partners and everyone on our jobsites, treating safety not just as a protocol but as a mindset that guides how we plan, build and lead. Our Safety Team develops project-specific plans from the start, addressing risks early so everyone goes home safely – reflecting our commitment to care and excellence.

Service Through Stewardship. We support our clients, colleagues and communities with humility and purpose. We strive to build trust, add value and help advance our clients’ goals in everything we do.

We actively give back in the communities where we live and work, with many employees engaged in charities nationwide. Each year, Clune donates a portion of our profits to more than 100 organizations, and in 2023 we furthered these efforts by establishing the Clune Cares Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

Respect at Every Level. We listen, include and lead with empathy. We treat every voice – client, trade partner or teammate – with fairness and professionalism. We recognize and appreciate our people, encouraging new ideas that create positive social value. We are dedicated to reducing our environmental impact, assessing our Scope 1–3 emissions and pursuing science-based targets. Our diverse team is our strength, and we foster inclusion through engagement, learning and community support. Guided by unwavering ethics and integrity, we hold ourselves accountable to the highest standards in every aspect of our work.

Teamwork in Action. We believe collaboration drives excellence. We show up for one another, share credit and work as One Clune across every project and region. Our culture of co-leadership and cross-departmental collaboration, spanning every regional office, fosters an environment where diverse perspectives thrive.

Excellence Without Exception. We don’t settle for “good enough.” We plan ahead, focus on every detail and deliver work our clients are proud to stand behind. Our consistent recognition as a Best Managed Company and Best Place to Work reflects this commitment and shows that excellence is not just a goal, but how we operate every day.

Innovation That Matters. We embrace new ideas, technologies and methods that make building smarter, safer and more efficient. Our focus is progress, not novelty. We invest in our people so they can stay current, grow their skills and continuously improve. Innovation is our mindset, guiding how we work, think and plan for the future of our clients and teams. Our in-house virtual construction group advances this effort through reality capture and BIM, improving coordination, revealing issues early and strengthening collaboration across every project.

Leadership by Example. We set the standard for accountability, agility and transparency. True leadership means taking ownership – especially when no one is watching. Our unique co-leadership structure sets the tone and empowers others to rise with us, creating a culture where high standards are lived every day, and leaders are developed at every level.

At Clune, safety is more than a priority – it’s a core value ingrained in every step of our process. Our dedicated Safety Team develops project-specific safety plans from the very first kickoff meeting, addressing potential issues long before work begins. We take every measure to ensure that everyone on-site returns home safely, reflecting our unwavering commitment to excellence and care.

Sharing appreciation and recognition for our staff emboldens employees at all levels to bring new, creative ideas to the table that provide positive social value.  Our internal teams continually look for ways to improve our environmental impact, ethical approach and personal relationships.

Environment: Recognizing the urgency of environmental sustainability, Clune is committed to making choices that reduce our impact, both on jobsites and in our offices, and has assessed our Scope 1-3 impacts with a view to developing SBTis be the end of 2025. Our structured approach emphasizes commitment, operational support, communication, evaluation and continuous improvement. Through collaboration with third-party experts, we are working to monitor and elevate our environmental performance across all aspects of our business.

People-Centric: Clune’s strength lies in the diverse experiences, perspectives and cultures that make up our team. We strive to foster understanding and inclusion in everything we do, prioritizing initiatives in workplace engagement, learning and development and community outreach and support. By integrating these into our daily work, we build a stronger and more inclusive future.

Ethics: At Clune, ethical conduct is a standard that guides every action. We are steadfast in our commitment to maintaining the highest levels of integrity and corporate responsibility, creating a culture where ethical practices are recognized and celebrated by all employees.

Our culture of co-leadership and cross-departmental collaboration, spanning every regional office, fosters an environment where diverse perspectives thrive.

For over 20 years, Clune Construction has earned recognition for both project achievements and company-wide excellence, including accolades such as US Best Managed Companies, Best Places to Work and Newsweek’s Most Loved Workplaces. These honors reflect our unwavering commitment to excellence at every level – proof that our corporate values are not just principles but a way of life embraced by our employees. Each award reinforces that, together, we are continuously striving toward the highest standards in everything we do.

At Clune, we believe in continuous evolution and innovation, not just in the tools we use but in the way we think and run our business.  We invest in our people to stay current on new trends, to build their skills and honestly assess themselves and improve.  It is a mindset.  We think about the future and how we can make it better for our clients, our teams and our clients.  In addition to individual growth and improvement, we also think about the future of construction.  We have an in-house virtual construction group dedicated to reality capture and applying Building Information Modeling (BIM). We utilize Virtual Construction to elevate our field verifications, strive to make information easier to read, and keep information readily available for all project members to use. It also allows Clune’s team members to weed out unknown issues with existing conditions, produce final build visualizations for the owner, and increase open collaboration with all project stakeholders.
