Clune Continues Culture of Promoting From Within as Two are Promoted in New York

Chicago, IL – May 10, 2022 – Clune Construction (Clune) is proud to continue its long-standing tradition of promoting from within by announcing the promotion of two of its talented professionals in its New York office to executive-level positions.

Sean Clune and Eric Sugarman received promotions in recognition of their significant contributions to Clune and the important role they play in the company’s future growth.

“Sean and Eric have dedicated their careers to Clune Construction and servicing our amazing clients. The company and those we serve have benefitted tremendously from their contributions,” said Dave Hall, CEO of Clune Construction. “I am proud to see them continue to rise through the ranks, as we continue our traditions of employee ownership and promoting from within.”

Sean Clune has been promoted to Managing Director, New York Operations. Sean has nearly 20-years of construction management experience. Known for his ability to establish strong relationships with clients and subcontractors, he has traveled throughout the US to lead many high profile interior and data center construction projects. His ability to support and motivate his team has led to him playing an integral role in establishing Clune’s growth in the New York region. A strong communicator, Sean rises to the challenge of managing the many personalities on the New York Team. He has also been instrumental in establishing Clune’s culture of treating employees like family within this office. Sean has a Bachelor’s degree from Tulane University. Since relocating to New York, Sean has been actively involved in One Sandwich at a Time, a local grass roots organization that provides homemade sandwiches to the city’s homeless population.

Eric Sugarman has been promoted to Vice President, Senior Superintendent, Team Leader. Eric joined Clune in 2016, with 32-years of construction experience already under his belt. Playing an important role in numerous projects at Clune, Eric routinely goes above and beyond to ensure all tasks in the New York office are covered. While it is still in progress, the construction at LaGuardia Airport in New York City is among the most notable projects Eric has worked on. Eric is known for leaving a positive impact on everyone he works with. From clients to teammates, he is always willing to go the extra mile to make certain a project is at its best. He enjoys building spaces that others utilize to better their everyday lives. Additionally, Eric takes every opportunity he can to help mentor team members just joining the industry. He is well respected for his experience and insight and prioritizes passing on his knowledge.

“Both Sean and Eric are extremely valuable team members. They take a strong lead in cultivating talent in our office and retaining our excellent client base,” said Tommy Dwyer, Clune’s President of the New York Region. “Along with all members of the New York office, I congratulate them on their well-deserved promotions and look forward to working side-by-side to lead the company.”

Clune is proud of its culture of promoting from within. Several Managing Directors and Officers started with the company as interns and the average tenure of a Managing Director is 17 years. Additionally, 20 percent of Clune’s employees have been with the company for more than 10 years. This culture has also contributed to Clune’s consistent placement nationally in numerous “Best Places to Work” rankings.
